Advice for reflecting personal style at home – from those in the know

12.01.2022

Whether you’re in the interiors game or simply have a passion for decorating, creating a beautiful home that perfectly reflects your personal style is probably easier to achieve than you think. It’s just a matter of making a plan, sticking to it and believing in yourself.

These days, thanks to social media, home makers all around the globe are able to share their creations and motivate others to make their own personal dreams come true.

Meet a design and styling enthusiast that has a knack for throwing together gorgeous spaces and inspiring others to do just the same.

Liana – How would you define your own personal style?

Minimal and on trend.

What is your background and how did you get interested in interiors?

I have worked in visual merchandising for many years with Witchery and have always loved all things styling and interiors.

What do you love most about your house – what is your favourite room or nook?

I love our dining area as it really connects the house together. We splurged on bi-fold doors that can open the space up and extend it outside to the courtyard.

What is your top tip for making your home cosy in winter?

We have concrete floors so rugs layered on top of extra rugs and cow hides to keep rooms warm.

What is your favourite trend right now?

I am in love with herringbone tiling. We are currently selecting some for our downstairs powder room and I also love coloured marble. We are trying to source some to extend our kitchen island unit.

What piece of advice would you give your best friend if they were about to renovate?

Don’t rush decisions and use your space correctly. We did our floor plan about 15 times until we were happy with the overall space of everything.

Also, draw on your own talent and that of family and friends. My husband is quite handy and always jumps in and makes things when I show him pictures of the things I want to buy. He has made lots of the stuff in our home and t is not only more affordable, it is also more special. If you or a family member or a friend can make things, take advantage of it.

What’s your secret tip for personalising your space?

Frame photos you love or have them illustrated and framed. We just had one of our wedding photos illustrated. It’s so stunning and personal to us and also it looks like artwork in the home.

What is your current favourite colour combo for home decorating?

Greys, black, white, gold and blush.
